Dr. Terranova was inaugural Director and chief Curator of Centraltrak: The UT Dallas Artists Residency from July 2007 to January 2010. An arts think tank located in downtown Dallas, Centraltrak is a unique branch of the Arts & Humanities division at the university, devoted to supporting working artists and arts- and critical theory-based intellectual fora. The residency provides live-work space to eight artists, four graduate students and four international artists, and hosts a gallery exhibiting contemporary art by Texan and international artists and a lecture and symposia series. In giving form to Centraltrak, Dr. Terranova looked to San Antonio’s Artpace and Houston’s Core Programs in Texas, MIT’s Center for Advanced Visual Studies in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Slought Foundation in Philadelphia. The mission of Centraltrak is to be a hub of innovative thinking and experimental connections, bringing the edges to the center, the intellectual spirit and activity of international urban nodes to Dallas-Fort Worth. Dr. Terranova oversaw administrative and curatorial duties in her status as Director, while also fulfilling her responsibilities as a tenure track assistant professor at the university. Below is a partial record of Dr. Terranova’s work – curated exhibitions, invited speakers, and symposia – while at Centraltrak.
